Vermonters for People-Oriented Places

2023 World Car Free Day September 22

World Car Free Day

World Car Free Day is a globally recognized celebration of car free living, and a day where everyone is encouraged to attempt living their day without using a car. It's a day to step out of your comfort zone and try getting to work by taking the bus, walking with friends to a night out, or cycling to the grocery store.

To make the day even more fun, Vermonters for People-Oriented Places is throwing a block party to celebrate in Downtown Burlington!

Thank you for coming!

This year's event was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy open streets with us, and who participated in our scavenger hunt and won our many prizes. We hope to see you all again next year.

Who is VPOP?

Vermonters for People-Oriented Places is a grassroots organization of citizens that advocate for more livable and affordable cities and towns in Vermont.

We're an all vounteer group of folks who organize social events, attend city meetings, and educate ourselves and our neighbors about how boring things like transit funding, parking minimums, and zoning regulations have a huge (and not always obvious) impact on important things like housing affordability, tax revenue, public safety, and a sense of community.
